Bill Jackson, You are welcome to read by response to Paul Engle posted above. To this I will add the following. The result of Intel dropping prices had inconsequential effects on AMD. Intel did not dro prices to affect AMD financial results. Intel actions were a planned event designed to continue growth in the CPU market. Accereration of that plan can only come from two reasons. Most probably from increased production from ramped up production of new productlines..secondarly and to a lesser weighting to trim inventory of any channel buildup resulting change in buying practices at more Boxmakers adapt the Dell model. The other plausable reason sense of fear resulting from order slowdown which may have been signaled by Japanesse manufacurers. Concern over the Asian flu effect on the slowdown of the market. Price cuts gives the buyer the advantage of margin incentive to replenish inventory optimism.
