I have been looking for the reason the "big cap" semi-equips like AMAT, KLAC and others were doing so poorly today compared to the rest of the semi-equip universe. The latest from Briefing.com may explain part of the issue.

<<15:00 ET Dow +154, Nasdaq +22, S&P +10.29: [BRIEFING.COM] The tone remains friendly with the Dow recently pushing to its best level of the day. In recent news Salomon Smith Barney has downgraded several issues on a technical analysis basis (KLAC -0.1%, AMAT -1.3%, SEBL -9.4%, QLGC -0.8%). Also, AT&T (T -3.6%) disclosed in their proxy filed today that the co asked shareholders to approve a 1 for 5 reverse split of AT&T common at their upcoming annual meeting. Cyclical issues continue to well today, explaining the better performance of the Dow. Positive comments from the Street on Honeywell (HON +6%) has also provided the index a boost. SOX +0.8%... DOT +0.8%... XOI +0.4%... BTK +4.6%... NYSE Adv/Dec 2136/993... Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1894/1536.>>
