It might be more how I experienced it driving up from Oceanside to LA. Sterile planned community butted up right next to the next sterile planned community until I hit the very unsterile S. LA - continous lawns with single family homes, malls, all pretty much the same. Stepford. If you take the 5, I agree. The 101 along the coast is a bit better. However, I don't mean to defend the OC......it wasn't my favorite place either. ted
