paul do not read something into bills puffery that is not there.
he is a control freek, as you can see from everything he gets into.
To refresh ur memory when msft was first going into the online service , all where terrified that they will own it all. Since then people think they have bungled their entry, not so they have gotten the bugs out of their system and r now ready to make a serious charge into it. The DOJ threats no longer come up with reguards to msft online ventures.
Personally I think "dr bill " will give away the service to obtain market share, just as he has done with IE.
Is there money in online services(could be in some time of proprietary service) but I haven't been enlightened to it yet.
Bill does not see money in the service hookup itself, but in the control that is obtained from a closed audience.
As 4 AOLs position in all this, they r a light weight boxer in a heavyweight ring.
I think they can dance around 4 a while but their accounting sham will eventually down them.
Read their 10k you will see part of what they have done to mask their losses.
If you have been in business you know cash flow can keep you moving for a long time but eventually u will have to pay the piper.
As for analysts meeting today, b very suprised if say any thing positive with the threat of prop 211 in CA.
