Chris:
You said that "Kaiser seems to be cool to near-term good news".
That is not the way I would interpret what he said. Basically he said that if AEC (who has access to inside information on the rusults) was willing to sell its share in the play for a mere $60 to $80 million then he would not expect good news from the impending bulk samples. But has anyone heard any such "news"? The answer is NO! There was only a rumour - and Kaiser has discredited that rumour. He goes on to say that the news that will establish this play as "world class" won't come till the second quarter of 1998. Here I would guess he is referring to bulk sampling results from one or more of the better pipes. To date we have only seen microdiamond analysis (10s of kg) - we are about to see mini-bulk sampling analysis (10s of tons) - the next step is bulk sample analysis (1000s of tons) and the final step is a feasability study. The mini-bulk analysis takes about 3-4 months it appears. I'm not sure how long the bulk analysis takes. Does anyone have info on this?
The one thing that Kaiser mentioned that was new is that the results are expected in mid November. This is 2 weeks later than their published estimate. He must have gotten this info from calling the company. Perhaps they tell analysts things they don't tell the average joe . . .c'est la vie. Then again perhaps they don't.
Finally an open question - Does anyone out there have a detailed understanding of micro-diamond analysis? For eg. Would the crushing and screening that is involved in "micro" analysis, crush macros into micros? Would it seriously discriminate in anyway against the survival of macros? Obviously if you were doing only a "macro" analysis it would seem to imply that a larger screen was being used? What about the reverse?
