Though it is hard to laugh very heartily when you see what the Fed and the Bush administration are doing to the US economy. And it doesn't even have the humanitarian impulse that was partly behind LBJ's disastrous guns-and-butter policies.

I would not be surprised to see inflation at 10% eighteen months from now, the long bond heading past 8%, the dollar about 20% or more lower, and stocks in the toilet. Am investing with those cheerful thoughts in mind.
