Although Kodak obtains more earnings from digital, the biggest factor in its higher earnings comes from lower costs for conventional photography. Production of one-time use cameras and color film for those applications has been shifted largely to China and Mexico. Layoffs in the U.S. and Europe have resulted in much lower labor costs. Kodak is still a work in progress, hampered mainly by a stodgy management.
