The question I have, does producing the actual cable give GTW a leg up with installers?

My feeling is that buying the actual fibre optics cable is like buying copper wire(well almost). Buy it anywhere and it will go with whatever brand (JDSU, SDLI etc) of components that are being used. The more complicated components would involve a matching process---sort of like buying MS Office for Windows and Office for Apple.
That would explain why JDSU would not want to be in the fibre cable business --and they would not want to step into their customers' territory as well.
Maybe someone can correct me if i am wrong in my assumptions.
