No it doesn't but it leaves it open to same.

It does leave it open to ridicule. The traditional way of closing it to ridicule has been to declare challenge blasphemous and enforce that.

It seems me that blasphemy is an overreaction and a dangerous one. It's too broad. The real problem is ridicule. Ridicule is a destructive behavior regardless of the topic or target. It is bullying, degrading behavior. It makes more sense to me to campaign against ridicule than against constructive criticism of ideas.

FWIW... my term quaint custom is not my view... but one I imagine many have just from reading SI.

I don't see a problem in considering it a "quaint custom." Folks are entitled to their opinions. As long as that doesn't turn into ridicule, people can think what they like.
