  Company Increases Expected MSM Shipments to 20 Million in the Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2002

  SAN DIEGO, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM - News), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today updated its outlook for strong chip demand in the fourth fiscal quarter (ending September 29, 2002). The Company expects to ship approximately 20 million MSM(TM) phone chips during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2002, including approximately 15 million third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1X MSM phone chips. Also, based on orders received, the Company expects shipments of MSM phone chips to be significantly higher than 20 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2003 (ending December 29, 2002).
