Was scratching my head last week as day after day, the mkt traded higher on what in anyones rational perception had to be deemed as lower earnings and more warnings. Cashed out most of my long plays on Thursday and held my conviction on a huge put and short position I built on the same day with CCMP. I have to admit, I owe JNPR a tip of my hat, with out which I have less conviction I would have held the short over the weekend. Lower then average volume also kept me on track.
So what is in store for next week and beyond. It is my own personal feelings that JNPR may have broken the camels back, as investors now look at other recent warnings and do a once over and digest the numbers. If you must go long, (except for scalps) I would now be focused on companies that surprised to the upside as few fund managers have the conviction to lose big on another quarter and will feel these are the safest plays.
I will have a list later of potential longs and shorts.
