Entevo To Release New Migration Tool
NDS to Windows NT product to be announced at Microsoft's TechEd conference

Entevo Corp. will unveiled a new version of its Novell Directory Services (NDS) to Windows NT migration product at the Microsoft TechEd Conference being held in Dallas next week.

Called DirectMigrate v. 1.5, the company promises product enhancements including an upgraded migration wizard and support for trial migrations for the integrated directory management solution.

"Our major reseller partners like Entex [Information Services Inc.] have been asking for these types of capabilities," said Dale Gardner, director of product marketing for Entevo. "But anyone who is moving from NDS to NT will be interested in this type of product."

The product facilitates migration from NDS to Windows NT by allowing users and groups to move from an NDS hierarchy to either a flat Windows NT domain structure or to Entevo's DirectMap virtual directory.

Entevo's migration strategy also will prepare users for eventual migration to Windows 2000, said the company.

"We want DirectMigrate to provide a comprehensive directory management solution for migration to Windows NT and eventually to Windows 2000 at a reasonable cost," said Gardner.

Other improvements include a stop/resume migration feature and even a rollback feature to remove changes made to the destination source as if the migration never happened.

The company also plans to demonstrate directory management support for Windows 2000 Beta 3 and Microsoft Exchange at the TechEd conference.

The company also will unveil a beta version of its new DirectAdmin Exchange Plus Pack. It is designed to manage resources across multiple directories, including Windows NT domains, Microsoft Exchange and Novell NDS from a single console.

"I think resellers are looking at these migration and management issues on a daily basis," said Gardner. "So these types of capabilities are very important."

The DirectMigrate v. 1.5 for NDS product will be available starting next week as a stand-alone component or as part of the DirectManage suite of Directory Management products. Pricing will start at $5 per managed account. The DirectAdmin Microsoft Exchange Plus Pack will be available in mid-July at a price of $5 per managed account.
