10% Excise Tax on ALL imports **correction**

A 10% import tax would help level the playing field between domestic and foreign production, and offset FICA and Unemployment Insurance (UI) cost for domestic manufacturers. This will also discourage international corporations from exploiting the US tax code by building factories overseas. It would apply to ALL imports including Canada and Mexico. The latter could respond with a similar tax, thus trashing NAFTA, that I think would be a good idea. Such a change would produce significant income to the US government and make balancing the US budget a practical reality and help correct the current account (export/import) imbalances.

Any foreign country that imposes higher tariffs on American imports than the 10% would have tariffs on exports to the USA MATCHED, whether they like it or not.

Sorry about that,

SargeK
