CHATSWORTH, CALIF. (Aug. 29) BUSINESS WIRE -Aug. 29, 1996--StreamLogic Corp. (NASDAQ:STLC) Thursday announced a strategic partnership with HyperParallel Technologies, a French technology company concentrated on exploiting the low-cost computing components inherent in today's "off-the-shelf" PCs and disk storage units in order to aggregate them into an extremely powerful yet cost-effective computing architecture for digital media applications.
This strategic alliance will enable StreamLogic to incorporate and market the exciting new core technology which enables use of low-cost open architecture "Wintel" computers in performance demanding applications. Such applications include large-scale video- on-demand servers, extensive Internet and intranet servers, demanding graphics and multi-user video editing.
Often these applications encounter I/O and CPU bandwidth bottleneck on a "Wintel" computer, forcing the designer to consider more expensive UNIX-based platforms.
"This partnership further leverages our unique position in the digital media and video communications markets," said Larry Smart, president and chief executive officer of StreamLogic.
"Companies who are considering use of open architecture 'Wintel' computers for demanding media applications will have a compelling interest in this new core technology. We have indications that by our ability to offer this technology now, we are many months ahead of companies trying to develop competing or similar solutions."
With active HyperParellel support, StreamLogic will market this core technology to a wide range of companies involved in applications throughout the video, Internet, intranet, switching and storage markets as well as incorporating it into future StreamLogic products.
StreamLogic develops and markets leading-edge video delivery, digital media storage and networking RAID and data management solutions.
Current product offerings include VIDEON, the industry's first family of video-on-demand server subsystems, the innovative Video Disk Recorder (VDR) video editing appliance, the award-winning Hammer high-performance storage products and the industry-leading RAIDION family of fault-tolerant network RAID and data management solutions.
The company sells to OEMs and systems integrators and has a well-established international network of distribution and dealer channel partners. StreamLogic corporate headquarters are located in Chatsworth, with marketing, sales, engineering, customer service and manufacturing operations in Menlo Park, Calif., and Chatsworth. -0-
