"Well, it's good enough for government work" implying the work may be sloppy but still good enough anyhow is used today to allow for larger than acceptable errors in work projects, but the original saying actually meant the exact opposite... many years ago when government work was allegedly exacting and precise, the phrase was making reference to how well the job was done... the job was so well done, it's good enough for government work..... how times have changed.....<g>
