I hate to find myself agreeing with a Bush position, even a little bit, but I think a lot of Americans abuse their insurance. As someone who's had decent insurance, and gone to the doctor on a regular basis, and also gone "naked" with no insurance and paying for every thing out of my own pocket, I KNOW I overutilized my doctor's services when I had insurance, going to see him for every minor complaint.

I've been uninsured until recently for the last five years, and my way of dealing with a problem was to wait it out. In EVERY case (so far), it has taken care of itself.

I see a lot of problems with private insurance, and wish we had a single payer, government run program that featured high co-pays.

When you have to PAY, you'll only go when you're really sick, or really NEED a diagnostic. When it's just 10 bucks to see the doc, hell yeah, go for a hangnail if you feel like it!
