Summary of first debate:

No major gaffe's from either candidate and no new positions or surprises. If you were an Obama supporter, I think you would be pretty happy. If you were a McCain supporter you would also be pretty happy.

McCain came across as more knowledgeable about the issues by naming specific people, places and events. Obama appeared impatient and defensive at times, especially when called on the carpet by McCain over having direct talks with Iran. It will be interesting to see the DD on what Kissinger actually said, since they both disagreed so vehemently.

Both candidates pretty much stuck to their talking points and speech material.

At one point things became a little heated. Obama demonstrated to me he is one of those guys who always has to get the last word. McCain showed more majority and confidence throughout the debate. He also appeared more Presidential to me.

I also think he came across as sincere in wanting to cut government spending.

Obama is also trying to rewrite history over his initial reaction toward the Russian invasion of Georgia.

But of course, I'm biased.
