To make things even more complicated you can use dimmers on the LED bulbs....

BUT!!!! you need to buy LED's that can be used with dimmers ( it should say so on the packaging ) AND!!! you need to replace the old incandescent dimmers with LED dimmers. Hubby is a smart guy, he can figure this out.

New expensive bulbs and new expensive dimmers. Oi vey! Generators are rated in KW ( 1000's of watts ) Add up the wattage of the new LED's to figure out how it will impact the gennie. Probably winds up a rounding error.

And as regards the old incandescents producing heat? Isn't that a good thing in the winter when you are trying to heat your house for 6 months? Whatever heat the bulbs produce reduces the heat the furnace needs to produce. So in the winter you get light for free. Yeah, yeah, summer...but you don't turn the lights on till around 10 PM just before you head to bed.
