BEFORE THE BELL - America Online <AOL.N> rises NEW YORK, July 27 (Reuters) - Shares in Internet service provider America Online Inc. strengthened in pre-opening trade Tuesday, rebounding somewhat from a sharp drop on Monday. America Online rose to 101-7/16 on the Instinet electronic broker system from a Monday close at 99-9/16. America Online fell 8-1/4 Monday amid a sharp drop in Web shares. The fall was prompted in part by concerns about possible higher interest rates. Among other active issues, Microsoft Corp. <MSFT.O> rose slightly in pre-open trade, to 88 from an 87-10/16 Monday close.
