I see your point. Although, if you think about it, Bill makes money only if the new software is better than the old stuff. Unlike hardware, your software never 'runs out'; you have no incentive to upgrade except for 'better' software. Hardware runs out (eventually), but Intel must also provide a compelling reason to trash your old 486/33 and buy a nice new Pentium 150. Between Bill and Andy, I think those compelling reasons are there, but if one stops offering an improvement, the other will have a hard time justifying the better kit over the perfectly operational older stuff.

So I see the two companies as similar, but different. And for the last few months I've felt that intel is more undervalued than microsoft. If the current run continues, msft might be better than intc. we'll see. anyway, i used to be leary of intel, but having learned more about the company and what they can do (and have up their sleeve) I become more bullish about them. also they have warrents <G>. check out the intel thread, paul engel is the intel guru.
