When my stereo system's CD player died and I wanted to tape a couple of tunes, I connected my laptop to my home stereo using a cable I got from Radio Shack. It's an "InterTan 42-2481D Shielded Y-Adapter 3.5mm (1/8) Stereo plug to two Phono plugs."

It worked OK, as long as background programs didn't interrupt the CD player software. (Close unnecessary windows.) Adjust the volume on the computer so that it matches your other component input sound levels. (About 2/3 the way on my system.)

Bye4Now, FD.
