ITXC, like IBAS, has agreements with BEL and several other ILECs (SBC, I believe is one of them) who will allow their voip calls to "terminate" in their calling areas. These are called call termination services.

I don't know that BEL has made an equity investment in them, per se. I could be wrong, but the way I read it they are simply handing calls off to one another, and the ILECs are taking their fair share of the pie at the same time, for the privilege. If anyone can point me to where BEL or another ILEC has made an equity investment in either of these companies, I'd appreciate it.

Having said that, however, I don't discount the value that such "feeling out" might have towards moving closer to one another at some point, as the baby bells gear up to go long distance.

Mark, you are correct. T made a substantial early round investment in ITXC, at about the same time that VOCL did.
