Sabre: An excellent post. The thought that AG is a genius is the extreme in hyperbole. If he were really smart he would be running an investment bank. The guy is no more than an expensive bureaucrat who is somewhat of a loose cannon as far as the markets are concerned. The charter of the Fed is to oversee the national banking assoc. not the equity markets. The tools to control the banks are reserve requirements, open market ops and lending at the discount window in conjunction with guiding the rates that banks lend to each other.

It is frightening how little folks know about the charter of the Fed and what the scope of their purview is.

As you correctly stated concerning AG "Furthermore, he has become, like many who gather momentum, an entity in himself". Now he is testifying as to whether or not the government should allow the taxpayer to keep his or her money. These guys are nuts. By the way all this hue and cry about saving social security is so much bull. Do you know what this precious thing is that they are saving? $995-$1350 per month depending on when you elect to draw it down. Who can live with any dignity on that pittance. Give me a break we are being robbed by our own government in the name of something that is a joke in itself. Let the people keep their own money and make their own investment decisions. Return the fruits of those who have created this economic juggernaut back to those who have labored in the American vineyard. JFD
