For all those calling a short term bottom, what is the catalyst for this being a bottom? Did a company come out and say they are raising forcasts for the next quarter? Did we receive economic numbers that say we are getting closer to the end of this down turn? Did the fed say they are going to keep easing for the next year?

Bottoms don't occur from news getting better. They occur from news not getting any worse. By the time the news is positive the stocks will have already risen 20%.

The question you should be looking to answer is "Will the economy get any worse?".
