I hear this comment on other threads as well ("There is no CPQ inventory at the stores.").

I guess in a way it is good news:

1) The stores are out of stock.

2) The final seal on CPQ/DEC is with the vote late next week.

3) Just a few days later CPQ delivers the keynote speech at PC expo.

4) A whole new line of computers will be introduced.

5) CPQ Computers will pour into stores to fill the empty shelves with no backlog of unsold CPQ computers to compete with. If the shelves were not empty you would have to compete with fire sales on your own computers.

It looks like the big show is about to start. I hope the MMs will start buying just before the vote.

It's very interesting to note how DELL has figured this out. I have been receiving DELL mailings in the last few days. DELL is doing their new product announcement and sales push right now - when the store shelves are empty or have the old CPQ products and the new product announcements from CPQ have not yet occurred. Ideal time for DELL to sell.

I wonder if CPQ will start a direct mail campaign like DELL. Their mini-catalogues sure do look good. No wonder they get such great direct sales.
