Why Did McCain Even Bother To Show Up? By Dirty Harry on General McCain lost the debate the moment he brought up the idea of government buying up mortgages to shore up home values. For the love of all that's holy … what in the hell was that? McCain spends two days getting his campaign somewhat back on track by nailing Obama as the wild-eyed liberal he is and then offers up an outrageous wild-eyed liberal plan to nationalize the housing market. McCain's only chance of disqualifying our next president was to out him as the liberal he is. That was it. That was his only chance. That was his only shot. And what does McCain do? He outflanks our next president on his left. Tonight I watched the most radical, unqualified, leftist who has ever run for the presidency allowed to look presidential — allowed to close the deal. I am equal parts speechless and disgusted. And not with Obama.
