i had to get back to you on this point. one might ask that of symantec and pcmag, given that the mag has chosen nav for their editor's choice award for like six years or something.

but if you then proceed to read pcmag's generally negative review of norton systemworks in the utility suite section ( pcmag.com ), you'll probably agree that no money changed hands anywhere.

even if we were to look at something like advertising dollars as the method of payment, the negative reviews tend to go against such an arrangement.

to be clear, i don't think that pcmag gets paid to hand out good reviews.
