Then, the United States was contending with inflation, an oil embargo by Arab nations after the outbreak of war between Israel and Egypt and Syria, the extended and unpopular U.S. war in Vietnam and the Cold War with the Soviet Union.

I would say the current presidential problems are infinitely more dangerous than in 1973. The 73 problem came well after the stock market peaked and had already gone thru years of churning off excessive speculation. The stock market factored in the Vietnam war, the Cold War, yadda yadda.

This stock market has NO DOWNSIDE FACTORS FACTORED INTO IT. This stock market is based on ultimate impossible optimism.

As I have been posting the long term spx chart and noting the low level of volitility (calm before the storm?) since 1987 and the EXTREME EXTREME EXTREME high levels of complacency in investor psychology. 90% of the investors in this stock market have never seen risk in a stock market. This is a recipe for disaster.
