FREEWEST RESUMES DIAMOND DRILLING AT CLARENCE STREAM, NEW BRUNSWICK
Freewest Resources Canada Inc. is resuming its diamond drilling on its Clarence Stream property. The 100-per-cent-owned property comprises 706 mineral claims (11,296 hectares) and is located close to infrastructure, approximately 70 kilometres southwest of Fredericton in Charlotte county, southwestern New Brunswick.
The targets for drilling consist of a number of gold in-soil geochemical anomalies situated along trend from a number of gold deposits comprising the Proximal deposits. The Proximal deposits are hosted within a northeast-trending high-strain zone (HSZ) that has been drill tested over a two-kilometre strike length. The most prominent of the Proximal deposits is the Central zone, containing an indicated mineral resource of 347,904 tonnes at a grade of 7.42 grams per tonne gold (uncut), yielding 82,952 ounces of gold. Several other Proximal deposits within the HSZ contain an inferred mineral resource of 312,000 tonnes grading 6.88 grams per tonne gold (uncut), yielding 69,000 ounces of gold. The hosting HSZ remains open-ended along strike and has only been drilled to shallow depth (100 metres).
Several gold-in-soil anomalies are situated along the projected southwestern extent of the HSZ containing the Proximal deposits. Such targets will be tested by diamond drilling during the balance of this year and into 2007 with the prime objective of increasing the gold inventory for eventual commercial production. Results will be reported in Stockwatch as they become available.
In other news, Noront Resources Ltd. announced a high-grade intersection on its Windfall Lake project. This drill hole is within 100 metres of the common boundary with Noront and Freewest joint venture property with Murgor Resources Inc. Freewest plan to examine these results with a view to a new exploration program this winter.
