What do you mean, "when AMAT was trading about 20% lower than it is now"? AMAT went though a huge range of prices last year.

The dynamics of this sector's cycles are such that the time to sell is when year-over-year comparisons are strongly favorable. You can bemoan it all you want, but in a sector as strongly cyclical as this one, that's just the way it is.
