Company Press Release

Fogdog.com Enhances Data Availability and System
Reliability With Storage Solutions From Network
Appliance

NetApp Storage Appliances Enable Fogdog to Handle Traffic Spikes and Simplify Oracle
Database Administration

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2000-- Network Appliance (Nasdaq:NTAP - news), a leading
provider of network-attached data access and management solutions, announced today that Fogdog.com, an online
sporting goods retailer, has selected NetApp© file servers as its corporate data management standard.

NetApp systems and software solutions will be used by Fogdog.com to ensure mission-critical data availability for its
rapidly growing online customer base.

Fogdog has deployed several NetApp F700 series storage appliances, also known as ``filers'. Two F760 filers, Network
Appliance's most powerful enterprise solution, are connected in a clustered failover configuration, to provide continuous
data availability and access of Fogdog's Web site to its vast user base.

According to Robert Chea, vice president of engineering for Fogdog, ``Network Appliance's highly reliable network-centric
approach and the redundant architecture of its appliances allow Fogdog to centrally store Web site content and graphics,
while dramatically expanding capacity and bringing new Web servers online quickly to meet Web traffic spikes.

``Using NetApp filers to store data for our Oracle databases has also significantly reduced our backup and management
time -- we use NetApp's Snapshot(tm) feature to make a copy of tens of gigabytes of Oracle© applications data in less than
a minute. I haven't seen a better architecture for reducing the complexities of database management.'

Fogdog.com is a participant in Network Appliance's ``Powered by Network Appliance' program, a branding initiative
designed to foster business development and enhance the exposure of Internet companies with e-business driven strategies.
Network Appliance powers nine out of the top ten ISPs and 13 out of the top 15 Web sites worldwide.
