Gaming's Godot Hits the Scene
As Pax Imperia Sequel Arrives

By JASON FRY
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL INTERACTIVE EDITION

Coupla brief snips:

"There wasn't any point in laboring to create the ultimate geek space game. The makers of Pax Imperia had already done it."

"If that sounds like it's more an exercise in management than combat, that's correct. If you're addicted to twitch-fests like Quake II, games like Pax are like watching paint dry. Yes, you'll spend plenty of time watching ships get built and waiting for money to accumulate in your empire's treasury. But if you're a true space-empire geek, you won't mind."

The article goes on to kick a few shins, but is generally pretty favorable to PAX.

The article included a request from the author, a WSJ reporter at fry@interactive.wsj.com re:

"This is not to say that all is perfect with this long-awaited game, however. The manual is horrible, with some basic information simply not to be found. If anyone knows how to separate individual ships from fleets, please e-mail me: I keep inadvertently attaching unarmed transports to task forces and fuming as they were dragged into combat."

Can anybody help him out <and solicit further plugs?>.
