Brea, CA: January 6, 1998 - SpaceTV Systems, Inc., a digital satellite
television service operator based in Brea, CA, announces today that it
has launched the first digital direct-to-home satellite TV service for
overseas Asian people and other niche groups of people in North America.

On its first high-power Telstar 5 Ku-band transponder, SpaceTV is
offering its subscribers five Chinese video channels, ten Chinese audio
channels, one Thai vidoe channel, one Filipino video channel and Asian
Business News channel. SpaceTV is to launch more channels, such as
Korean channels, Japanese channels, Vietnamese channels and its
exclusive interactive DTH education channels, in North America in the
coming months.

SpaceTV is the first digital direct-to-home satellite television service
provider to serve global Chinese and other overseas Asian people around
the world. SpaceTV Systems has built up two digital broadcasting
centers in Asia and the U.S. that is equipped with DiviCom MPEG-2/DVB
encoder system, French Telecom Viaccess conditional access control
system, Hewlett-Packard video servers and Louth automatic playout
system. These broadcasting centers provide a common headend mission to
feed signal to all different markets.

SpaceTV's low-cost digital satellite receiver is fully MPEG-2/DVB
compatible and is now mass manufactured in Taiwan. SpaceTV is offering
an end-to-end turn-key service, including video playout, digital
up-link, Telstar 5 Ku-band transponder capacity, digital satellite
receiver distribution, conditional access control, smart card
management, to niche broadcasters in the U.S. to distribute their video
service to all North America by using a complete satellite
direct-to-home transmission system.
