What Happened to Phil? David Freddoso The Coner Friday's McClatchy dispatch details how evil Republicans have tied up the Senate so that Democrats' enlightened agenda cannot be enacted. The piece projects that there will be more filibusters in this Congress than in any previous Congress. To give one example: <<< By sinking a cloture vote this week, Republicans successfully blocked a Democratic bid to withdraw combat troops from Iraq by April, even though a 52-49 Senate majority voted to end debate. >>> Hey, wait a minute -- how many senators are there again? Well, anyway... Remember Phil A. Buster, the cartoon character Democrats were using to justify filibusters against judicial nominees back when they were still in the minority? Phil was all over the Internet, trying to help establish the filibuster in the popular mind as an indispensable tool of Democracy. Where is he now? Sadly his website, 'Save Phil,' (savephil.com) has been pulled -- I cannot imagine why.
