An article in Barron's pointed out concerns over the e-tailer's long-term growth prospects due in part to sliding revenues per customer.
Among other Internet stocks, America Online (AOL: news, msgs) lost 5/8 to 96 1/2.
Sun Microsystems (SUNW: news, msgs) added 5/8 to 68 1/2, said Madoff. The company is reportedly ready to unveil a new chip that is designed to handle multiple functions including graphics, voice and video at high speeds, according to the Wall Street Journal and other published reports.
Among other chip makers seeing activity in London, Intel (INTC: news, msgs) advanced 1/2 to 69 1/2, Texas Instruments (TXN: news, msgs) gained 1 to 145, and IBM shaved off 1/16 to 125 5/8.
