Re: claim of "the MAJOR SOURCE of armaments...."

Absolutely no one denies that they are 'a source'... but so then are *most* of the regional neighbors.

But certainly NOTHING LIKE 'the major source' (i.e., over 50%...) such as you claim without any offer of proof at all.

And the US military has repeatedly stated that the percentage of armaments that can be directly ascribed to Persian sources is fairly small in the over-all scheme of things... whereas AQI and the Sunni insurgents have been the recipients of (in the exact words of our military: 'unlimited financing and resupply' from Saudi Arabia and fellow Sunni States around the Gulf region....)

The Kurds, of course, are mostly Red White and Blue supplied these days (excepting perhaps what can be black market purchased from siphoned-off petro revenues....)

While the GOVERNING Shiite factions (SIIC and Dawa), while maintaining very close military and intelligence ties to Iran still (in fact, the Government's Badr Brigades used to actually fight from Iranian soil against Saddam's Iraq...), are playing a DUAL GAME now... and sucking down *all* the financing and resupply that they possibly can from *both* Uncle Sam AND from Iran.

Very 'Middle Eastern'... to play both sides off against each other that way to advance your own causes.... :-)
