Hi Mike: No license agreement with Epson, (Really!)
at least as of the H&Q technology conference.

I know it seems like a strange idea, I only digested it myself a few
days ago when Joe mentioned he didn't understand the relationship between Iomega and Epson. But here's my source: In the H&Q technology conference for analysts, K. Edwards responded to direct
concerning licensing. He stated (and I paraphrase) that Iomega has
no license agreements with anyone at the present time and that epson is simply manufacturing zips for them. If you think about it, manufacturing by a third party (outsourcing?) is pretty common. What is confusing here is that the 3rd party has a rebranding agreement as well, so the natural assumption is that they're manufacturing under license. If I believe what I read, Epson has two separate agreements with Iomega, one for rebranding, one for manufacturing. It's anyone's guess what labels the Epson Zips wind up under. Although I would certainly believe that Epson rebrands at least some of the drives manufactured in their own plant (saves shipping costs?)

I don't have my files here at work. I can send you the post# where I got the information concerning the H&Q technology conference after I get home tonight. Maybe someone remembers it?
