Compaq Names Stephen C. Martson as Vice President of Worldwide Procurement Tuesday, June 16, 1998 12:57 PM
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--In a move designed to strengthen its focus on its Optimized Distribution Model (ODM), Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) today announced the appointment of Stephen C. Martson to the position of Vice President of Worldwide Procurement.
Martson will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to Compaq's corporate purchasing organization on a global basis and for enhancing the company's ability to provide support to the combined operations of Compaq and the recently acquired operations of Digital and Tandem. The organization will drive development of strategic supplier relationships and supplier flexibility to meet customer requirements in a high-volume, new product-driven environment.

Digital's manufacturing, including procurement operations, is being integrated into Petsch's organization.
Martson was previously vice president for procurement with IBM's Personal Systems Group where he implemented a new OEM business model to support consumer and emerging markets. In addition, he served as vice president, worldwide procurement, with Dell Computer Corporation, Round Rock, TX. Martson served in a variety of management roles with AMP Incorporated, Harrisburg, PA. |
