like? if you mean about jewish race than it is true that traditionally it was more about culture and religion (and more about just culture now) than about race.

it realli makes no difference what so ever but here is my understing of Khazars and who they were:

to claim that origin of Ashkenazi Jews are from Khazars maybe partially true but you have to know a bit about who were Khazars and what was their religion. Khazars were mostly non-jews, they were pagens, muslims, christians. The ruling class were Jewish who adopted Judaism. The ruling class invited Jews from other countries but mostly from the ME. So the fact is that most of the Khazar Jews were of Israel tribes.

Khazars were one of the most progressive state regarding religion and race that is any religios and/or race persecution was punishable sevrely (beheading on occasions). That is the main reason why majority of population never converted to Judaism and that is the reason why most of the jews were of the Israeli tribes.

now I asked a question before about Kasaks and Cossaks earlier and the reason why I asked that is that after Oleg, the ruler of Russia, destroyed Khazars they migrated into various countries and founded kasaks and Cossaks.

Khazar Jews mixed with jews who immigrated through Germany forming Ashkenazi. Both German jews and Khazar jews are descendance of Israeli tribes.

Having said that, I do not really care if my blood is turkish, german or hebrew but my culture makes me a jew.
