------------------ CORPORATE OVERVIEW ------------------ Medical Technology & Innovations, Inc. (MTII) was founded by Jeremy P. Feakins in 1990. Mr. Feakins is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of MTII. Initially, the Company focused on developing microprocessor based medical screening devices and software systems for the medical profession. In 1992, work related to this effort led to the introduction of Dr. Howard Freedman, a pediatric ophthalmologist and the inventor of a photorefraction camera system, and Titmus Optical, Inc., a subsidiary of Carl Zeiss, Germany. In 1993 partnership arrangements were forged between Mr. Feakins, Titmus Optical, Inc., Dr. Freedman and Polaroid Corporation. After four years of research, development and successful field testing and medical trials, the Photoscreener™ was introduced to the market in 1994 following clearance by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In 1995, the Company became a public company, trading its stock on the over-the-counter electronic bulletin board (OTC/BB). The Company's stock ticker symbol is MTEN.
In 1996, MTII raised approximately $8.0 million to acquire cash-flow positive Steridyne Corporation and commenced aggressive marketing of the Photoscreener™
In 1997, MTII established its European office, MTI Europe, Ltd., in London, England. MTI Europe, Inc. will target industrial European countries for the PhotoScreener™ and expand the distribution of its Steridyne products in Europe.MTII also announced a restructuring of its 1996 Reg S Financing Transaction to gain an infusion of capital to successfully implement its new sales and marketing strategies for the Photoscreener™
------------------ BUSINESS DIVISIONS ------------------ MTEN has two business divisions as follows:
MTI Inc. - Medical Technology, Inc., MTII's division which manufactures and distributes the PhotoScreener™, continues to aggressively market the camera in a focused approach to primary targets of optical chains, Lions clubs and the school and public health markets and secondly, to optometrists and pediatric ophthalmologists. Medical Technology, Inc.'s goal is to establish the Company as the technological leader in vision screening and to institute the PhotoScreener™ as the "Standard of Care" procedure for detecting amblyogenic factors. All administrative functions, manufacturing and distribution, are managed at the Company's headquarters in Riviera Beach, Florida.
Steridyne - Steridyne originated in 1973 and continues to market many products including digital, glass and pacifier thermometers, thermometer sheaths and probe covers, infant heel warmers, and pressure relief/reduction gel cushions. Their principal markets include clinical/medical, long term care/home care, and retail/private label. All manufacturing, distribution and administrative functions are managed at their Riviera Beach, Florida location. |
