we may have a new era upon us after all; one in which
the retail investor outsmarts the pro.

what I'm thinking of is:
a) I recall reading that the retail investors bought
the last dip ahead of the pros.

b) No Fear is not only a nifty bumper sticker.
I figure I'm a pretty average investor. if I was
mostly cash 3 weeks ago, and totally cash as of
friday, I'll bet there are many many others like
me. what's to fear? think. who's been buying
all those fat largecaps? peg obsessed retail
investors? no. who's been selling the middle of
the market? us. who is stuck holding the bag?
institutions, and of course the mutual fund
investors who use them.

c) if a lowly amateur wannabe like me has read and
understood what it means for commodities and interest
rates to fall along side the bulk of the market,
it's an indication that the internet really has
changed things. SI itself is a revolution, and
probably does have some effect.

this is a Wild A$$ Conjecture, but the story for
1998 may just end up being how the lowly individual
got a clue and acted on it.
