| OT: Susie, I don't think NE acts any more arrogant than most teams in the NFL, which is to say, I think most NFL teams behave arrogantly wrt their fans and especially their anti-fans.
I also don't think the Yankees are extraordinarily arrogant with fans and non-fans, rather I think (and I don't include everyone in this) many of the loudest, most vocal Yankee fans behave arrogantly at times -- again, not all Yankee fans, but ones who stand out because they are especially vocal about it.

When it comes to anti-Yankee feelings from sports fans like me: I'm only somewhat anti-Yankee... mostly, I am jealous and wish my favorite team had the money and commitment to field a contending team every season if possible.

Also, I do tire easily when Yankee fans begin to whine during the odd years they end up sucking despite throwing barges of money at rafts of players small market teams couldn't afford to retain. In other words, my anti-Yankee feelings have more to do with the relative ease of being a Yankees fan vs. a fan, say, of the Cincinnati Reds -- the first pro major league team, but a team that only makes the playoffs once a decade or so in this century, if that, and has little realistic hope of ever winning another world series in my lifetime (after growing up during a time when the Reds were one of the dominant teams -- I hit adulthood around 1970 and the Reds went to 4 world series between 1970 and 1976, winning two of them, with the Big Red Machine peaking in '75 and '76 (widely regarded as one of the top 3 teams of all time).

So, it takes little effort to be a Yankees fan, IMO, and that is the source of much of my frustration/jealousy/ill-will when it comes to the NYY.

I don't get that sort of feeling about the Patriots... not like I used to "hate" on the Cowboys when they declared themselves "America's Team" (and similarly began hating on the Atlanta Braves when they began claiming to be "America's Team" in MLB -- because of Turner and his satellite TV station).
