And really the problem with the election isn't a problem with the GOP so much as it is Bush's unpopularity, combined with economic pessimism. In addition, we have had 8 years of constant and unrelenting criticism of President Bush by the Democrats and some Republicans. The MSM has done the same with President Bush and when it came to BO they conformed the saying.."hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil". Even Fox has treated BO better than Sen. McCain.
