ratlong,

Besides the Brazilian crisis there probably were also some
speculation about positive earnings built into the stock price,
so maybe there won't be such a big move today -- who can tell,
we'll know in a couple of hours...

Did you see this (see below) ? Is this the repackaging into
suites or are there some new tools as well ? (not that the
integrated suites isn't important - they are!). I like the
title: "Rational redefines software development tools market".

What specifically were said about 'e-commerce' at the conference
call ? That it is an important market I understand, but to my
knowledge RATL today hasn't any specific features or products
that directly targets e-commerce. Rational has excellent tools
for software development and 'e-commerce software' is being
heavily invested in these days, so I am sure they are selling
a lot of tools to e-commerce developers. But will they also
launch specific products for e-commerce and web software
development?

I guess my jokes about RATL becoming a Internet company
weren't so far-fetched after all...I do realize the importance
of the Internet (quote: "overhyped but underrated, it will change
the world") but I am amazed at the valuations of some of the
Internet stocks -- and that just by announcing a stock split a
company is valued a number of billion dollars higher. At least
RATL have real earnings and a steady, solid growth...

Best,

/Hans-Erik

Devlin, at a teleconference to announce a new family of
products that is the culmination of an 18-month effort to

these new products take Rational and the software development
tools market in a new direction.
