Shahar Arzy, a colleague of Blanke's, purposed that the junction between the temporal and parietal lobes may have played a part in some of the pivotal events in world religions.

This is the part of the brain that deals of our sense of self (being) and our keeping a constant relationship spatially in the world just refrenced to Solon in my last post . See vid here

Obviously they are drawing nearer & nearer thru mapping & imaging studies learning the functions of these different complexes but one can really see that all sensory inputs would originally be tied into this kind of basic cognitive brain complex whose purpose is the formation of a total picture of ourselves in the world spatially .

In order to make any next move or avoid incoming danger there's a part of the brain constantly involved updating all surrounding objects to ourselves so any chosen act is done coordinated with the percieved positioning of those objects . Then the pathways for flight or attraction , obstacles that are potentially present in the immediate environment so can be judged , measured & chosen properly in any further choice of action.

If one engages in activities of deep concentration & intensity which could be anything from team sports , working on a mathematical formulas, praying to Mecca, meditation of a Zen master or often sometimes when someone just forgets all danger in the moment spontaneously risking themselves to save another human being ....moment where the sense of self is lost into a larger field of experience perhaps .
