Sure, the symbolism of Obama winning is great, but it won't be the symbol being President, it will be the man. And the man will have to show his priorities and make decisions, in a way he has studiously avoided doing until now. The general assumption seems to be that Obama is SOOOO brilliant that the constraints that bind other men won't bother him - he doesn't need experience - he will just get it right out of his native genius.

He will need all his rhetorical gifts to maintain this illusion. Heaven help him if he is ever perceived as a mere mortal. Or worse, a dirty machine pol from Chicago.
