Let's forget cash-flow just for a second and revisit the problems facing this service. They have a single proprietary browser which cannot be extended or enhanced by third party developers. They have proprietary servers so that businesses must go through AOL to establish a presence on AOL.

Sorry but your local pizzerias, theaters, newspapers, automobile dealers and so on do not need to go through AOL to service their customer base when they can setup their own local online service. National and international businesses don't use the same add agency and they sure won't want to lock themselves into the same online service when there are literally thousands of providers out there to choose from that use the internet.

Last and by far the most important. The tools for creating online services and the capabilities they provide are growing furiously. Do not confuse the simple web pages you are seeing now with what's just around the corner. Adios AOL!

Oh yeah, almost forget: short value to $5
