Joe Biden was right. Within 6 months, Obama would be challenged by some geopolitical effort of a "strategic competitor". Medvedev didn't wait a day! It's good to have Joe instead of Sarah who didn't see it coming.

Symbolism is always fun and the two guards goose stepping to open the huge doors for Medvedev reminded me of a Donald Duck comic of 50 years ago by Carl Barks in which some huge doors were opened like that and a midget man trying to look important was the purpose of the doors. I can't recall very well at all, but I'm pretty sure that was the situation.

It looked ridiculous. Goose stepping, huge doors, little Medvedev came walking awkwardly through, trying to swagger like Putin, who at least has a bearing of KGB menace, but looking more like a boy out of his depth in a school theatrical performance.

Obama got 300 million people behind him, not to mention some Kenyans and a lot more besides. Yes, the Rabid Republican Right is drooling, gnashing their teeth, and warning of doom, but when push comes to shove, they don't feel imprisoned in the USA and will in fact back the USA in any confrontation with a KGB-powered thugocratic kleptocracy, not that a confrontation is a sensible way to organize buying of oil and gas from Russia and co-operation in defusing the Islamic Jihad efforts.

Hooray for Barack.

Now, who will get the jobs? Condoleezza Rice might as well stay on. KashandCarry might as well stay on for the ill-starred "rescue". Robert Gates is a good bloke and so is Petraeus so they stay in charge. Water-boarding has already been turned off by Petraeus I bet. Colin Powell could be resurrected for something.

We should expect redeployment of troops from Iraq to Afghanistan and some serious demonstration of USA fire power against "...those who would tear this world down--we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security--we support you." A demonstration is in order of BO's actions not just words and that's a convenient place for him to get the message across. Islamic Jihad terrorists had better take a low profile in the area.

And, Barrack might even set up Bill Clinton to finally get the big revamp of the United Nations underway into the NUN which was needed BEFORE the conquest of Iraq and the silly search for imaginary WMDs.
