Korea seeks fast-track system to end U.S. dumping case

WASHINGTON -- South Korea has intensified its dispute with the United States over chip dumping charges by asking a global government semiconductor forum to endorse a multilateral "fast track" cost-monitoring system similar to one approved by the European Union.

Korea has been unsuccessful in pressing the United States to drop its current DRAM dumping case against Hyundai Electronics Industries Co. Ltd. and LG Semicon Co. Ltd. as part of a similar cost monitoring plan. The U.S. Department of Commerce has shunned the Korean offer.
