Hi Duncan:

This is my 1st look at the AOL Board here. I am not a stockholder, not interested in being one, but have been a subscriber for several years.

I also have a local ISP for accessing the internet. The reason I looked up this thread was because I just got kicked off AOL again. Seems they are having trouble with their system again this week. I access by using my own provider. I have kept the service because of features like morningstar, 1st Call, Dow Jones News, other market reports.

I feel like many of the posters in this thread that AOL is not going to survive in the long run and do not understand those optimists who believe it will. I hope for their sake (if they're investors) that I am wrong.

I read an article on the new Digital TV which the FCC approved.
According to this article, both cable TV and ISPs will not be necessary to receive the signal. During the 1st phase in it will only be available via antenna or satellite dish. I don't begin to understand how this technology will work, but wonder what will happen to companies like AOL when Digital TV takes over? What do you think?
